The Most Memorable Way To Write A Wedding Speech

A wedding is a very special occasion when two people proclaim their devotion and undying love for one another.  It’s also a time when a couple decides to make the ultimate commitment and share their love with family and friends.  More importantly weddings provide the perfect audience to give the most memorable speech. While most bride and grooms are especially nervous giving a memorable speech may the last thing on couples mind.

Wedding speeches are different from wedding vows and typically take place during the reception.  This is after the festivities of the ceremony and everyone is attentive.  For this reason writing the most memorable wedding speech is most important.  Follow these few tips and pointers to help you develop a speech that will touch the heart of everyone for many years to come.

  1. Tone Down The Humor- while everyone wants to be entertained they’re not at a comic review or show, instead keeping the comedy out of the speech a much as possible. Will set the atmosphere for a more memorable occasion.  While you may want to spice up the occasion you don’t want to inundate your speech with antics and folly.

  2. Highlight Contribution- focus your speech and both the bride and grooms community contributions, charity and social attributes.  Uplift your speech by enthralling the positivity and selfless contributions they have made to family, friends and their community.

  3. Praise Quality- One of the most effective parts of any speech especially wedding speeches it to praise the best qualities of both bride and groom.  Point out family beliefs and show how they will be a great team as husband and wife, mother and father.  Remember this is their special moment so you want to give the audience special memories and examples of how this union is meant.

The hardest part of constructing a memorable speech is finding just the right things to say for that specific occasion. It’s always best that someone close to the bride and/or groom be the speech giver; such as a good friend, father or sibling.  If you’re giving a speech you want to include the couple as a whole unit rather than focusing on one or the other.   If you’re not as knowledgeable of either the bride or groom work with a close relative or friend of that person and intermingle both in your speech.

Aside from the gripping and personal content of your speech you also want to make sure the delivery is well planned. Your delivery of a speech finalizes the heart warming atmosphere.  The best thing to do when you know your going speak at a wedding is allow yourself sufficient time to work out your delivery, body language and tone since this brings your speech to life.  And by all means make sure you have plenty of time to practice.  Remember practice makes perfect and your goal is to make your speech one of the most memorable wedding speeches ever heard.
